The Wine

In this 2003 AEROS Cabernet from Goosecross, unique bottle design with the artistry of extraordinary winemaking, culminate in a stunning wine from the Napa Valley. Initially forged by a jeweler, the AEROS label, made of nickel and copper, was the first metal label introduced to the wine industry. Vintage 2003 is the fifth Cabernet produced by Goosecross as a part of this Limited Production Collector Series of luxury wines under the AEROS label.

The Vineyards

The grapes for this unique vintage were harvested from three very different and distinct growing districts of Napa Valley. These districts include the prestigious and highly prized Mountain fruit of the Howell Mountain appellation and softer, robustly flavored Cabernet and Merlot grapes from the valley floor and bench soil of Napa Valley.

Winemaker Notes

Rich aromas of cassis, black cherry, strawberry and mocha intrigue the senses while hints of clove, leather, mint, almond and vanilla oak offer a seductive, smoky, toasty quality. Lush berry and cherry flavors are accented by hints of licorice and herbs, finely structured by long dusty tannins that edge toward warm cedar and spice. This wine is soft, round, balanced and beautifully expressive.

This AEROS release consists of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon from the prestigious and highly-prized Howell Mountain appellation blended with 30% softer “valley floor” Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% bench soil Napa Valley Merlot. The result is a rich, flavorful, elegant, hand-crafted wine of exceptional quality. This Cabernet is truly seductive.

Large Format

A Double Magnum contains four times the amount of wine as a 750ml bottle. Wine ages slower in larger formats. Slower maturation can lead to better qualities due to a slower chemical reaction occurrence. Chemical reactions respond to temperature and surface area; the larger the volume of the container the smaller the surface area, and the less ultra-violet light and slower oxygen diffusion. This all leads to slower chemical reactions and slower maturation, hence large format bottles age longer than standard 750ml bottles.
