Colleen was raised in Northern California. She grew up on nine acres of land occupied by redwood trees, apple trees, a creek, a few cows and several other animals. It was here that she learned to appreciate nature, work hard and to love life.
In her junior year of high school, she decided to take the GED/Proficiency Exam and finished a year early. After completing her AA in Liberal Arts she attended Loyola Marymount University where she earned her Bachelors Degree. She continued at Loyola to complete teaching proficiency and earn her California Teaching Credential. Her teaching experience includes elementary, high school and adult education. Her life and career path took an interesting twist in 1994 when she boarded an airplane in Los Angeles and met David Topper. She joined the team at Goosecross Cellars, as a Hospitality Representative with an interest in wine (although she originally professed her preference for beer).
Since then, her appreciation of the environment, willingness to learn, love of meeting people, exceptional organizational abilities, teaching skills, and positive attitude have made her shine at the winery and throughout the industry. Colleen was promoted to Director of Hospitality in 1995. In 1998, Colleen was promoted once again to include the position of Director of Public Relations.
Colleen, now a true convert to fine wines, authored the Goosecross
Wine Basics Class® and is a resident source for many questions regarding
wine and wine appreciation. Colleen assists our Director of Education,
Nancy Hawks Miller in the development of additional wine education
programs for our visitors.
Colleen and David Topper were married on June 13, 1998 at the Goosecross
winery. |
